The Orville ist eine US-amerikanische Science-Fiction-Fernsehserie, die auf einer Idee von Seth MacFarlane basiert, der auch Regisseur, Drehbuchautor und Hauptdarsteller ist. Sie ist zugleich Hommage an und Persiflage auf die Star-Trek-Serien. Die Erstausstrahlung fand am 10. September 2017 beim US-Sender Fox statt. In Deutschland war die Serie in Erstausstrahlung ab dem 27. Februar 2018 auf dem Sender ProSieben zu sehen. Die zweite Staffel wurde ab dem 17. Juni 2019 ebenfalls auf dem Sender ProSieben ausgestrahlt, die dritte Staffel ab dem 2. Januar 2023.
