Thelma Carpenter (January 15, 1922- May 14, 1997) was an American jazz singer and actress. In 1939 she joined Count Basie, where she recorded some of her most memorable material. After Basie she recorded with Teddy Wilson. She died in 1997 from a heart attack. She spoke in interviews of having performed at the age of seven, although not a great deal of information is available on her background.
