Theodor Schaefer (January 23 Jan, 1904; Telč - March 19, 1969, Brno) was a Czech composer. A pupil of Kvapil at the Brno Conservatory (1922-6) and Novák in Prague (1926-9), he was a leading figure in Brno as a teacher (at the academy), conductor and composer. He extended Novák's harmony towards modality and later serialism. His small output covers many genres, his Symphony (1962) being his principal work. Read more on Last.fm
