Tiemannit (auch Selenquecksilber) ist ein relativ selten vorkommendes Mineral aus der Mineralklasse der „Sulfide und Sulfosalze“. Es kristallisiert im kubischen Kristallsystem mit der chemischen Zusammensetzung HgSe und entwickelt überwiegend körnige bis massige Aggregate, aber auch gut ausgebildete, idiomorphe, maximal 5 mm große Kristalle von bleigrauer bis stahlgrauer oder bräunlicher Farbe.
