打刀(うちがたな)は、太刀に引き続いて、室町時代後期から武士の主流となった日本刀の一種。打刀は主に徒戦用に作られた刀剣であり、通常は太刀とは逆に刃を上に向けて帯刀する。室町時代中期以降に広まり、以降は「刀」というと打刀を指す場合が多い。
