8.0On the run from punishment for a crime committed by his brother, Bertie Cecil (alias Lewis Victor) joins the French Foreign Legion. In Algeria, he becomes the hated rival of his commander, Chateauroy, who despises Victor's breeding and also competes for the same woman. Victor is beloved of Cigarette, an Algerian camp follower, who saves his life, though he loves another.

Sotto due bandiere (Under Two Flags) è un film muto del 1922 diretto da Tod Browning. La storia è l'adattamento per lo schermo del romanzo omonimo di Ouida da cui trasse il lavoro teatrale che andò in scena a Broadway il 5 febbraio 1901. Il film è un remake: già nel 1912 erano usciti due film dallo stesso titolo con la storia di Cigarette e del suo amore infelice per un bel legionario.
