Species
Least ConcernObservations: At high altitudes these animals may be semelparous, meaning they reproduce only once in their lifetime (Diamond 1982). It has been estimated that these animals live up to 1.3 years in the wild (Bernhard Grzimek 1990), or maybe up to 1.5 years (Ernest 2003). Due to a lack of detailed studies, maximum longevity could be underestimated and is considered unknown.
