.vg is the official internet domain extension for the British Virgin Islands that anyone worldwide can register without needing a local connection to the territory. It has become popular not only for British Virgin Islands websites but also for piracy sites and gaming-related blogs because of its open registration policy and the convenient coincidence that ".vg" can stand for "video gaming."
