Vladas Jonas Jakubėnas (born 15 June 1904 in Biržai, died 13 December 1976 in Chicago ) was a Lithuanian composer, pianist, writer, music critic, social activist, educator. Between 1944 and 1949 he lived in Germany, teaching children in war camps. In 1949 he emigrated to Chicago in the US, where he gave private music lessons, accompanied his fellow countrymen at concerts, played church organ, wrote about emigrant music events and other musical issues, lectures, worked in music schools. <a href
