Ruine Weissenau, wohl M. 12. Jh. Ehem. Wasserburg, seit dem Bau des Schiffahrtskanals und der Aarekorrektion 1891/92 mit dem Festland verbunden. Annähernd quadratische Anlage mit noch 17 m hohem Turm in der NW-Ecke. Rechteckiger, in 2 Abschnitte unterteilter Wohnbau. Seewärts ein ummauerter Vorplatz von 40 x 75 m, diente wohl als Sust und Hafenanlage. Der Bauunterhalt wurde im 16. Jh. eingestellt und später wurde der zerfallende Bau als Steinbruch genutzt. 1954/55 erfuhr die Anlage eine durchgreifende Konsolidierung. Die stattliche Reichs-burg mit befestigtem Hafen und Sust war ein wichtiger Umschlagsplatz am Verkehrsweg ins Oberland. Die durch Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa erbaute Burg kam nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln im Jahre 1334 an das Kloster Interlaken und nach der Reformation in den Besitz Berns.
