William A. Noyes

William A. Noyes was an American chemist born in 1857 and died in 1941. He received his education at Johns Hopkins University and Grinnell College. His doctoral advisor was Ira Remsen. Noyes worked at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, the University of Tennessee, Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology, and the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.

Noyes received the Willard Gibbs Award, the Priestley Medal, and the William H. Nichols Medal. He was recognized in the American Academy Arts Sciences collection. His doctoral student was Carl Shipp Marvel. Noyes had a child named W. Albert Noyes. He spoke and wrote in English.
