Wolfgang Schmeltzl (c. 1500 / 05 in Kemnath ( Oberpfalz ); † around 1564 in St. Lorenzen am Steinfeld, today Ternitz ( Lower Austria )) was a composer, poet, schoolmaster and a Catholic priest. Schmeltzl worked as a cantor in the Benedictine Monastery Kastl and in pastures in the Upper Palatinate. After the 1538 Upper Palatinate Protestant had become, he went to Vienna , where he died on Schottenstift acted as schoolmaster and some biblical dramas written. After 1554 he is attested as a Catholic
