5-HT7 antagonists

Olanzapine, sold under the brand name Zyprexa among others, is an atypical antipsychotic primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is also sometimes used off-label in cancer patients for treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting and as an appetite stimulant. For schizophrenia, it can be used for both new-onset disease and long-term maintenance. It is taken by mouth or by injection into a muscle.

Vortioxetine, sold under the brand names Trintellix (in the US) and Brintellix (in Europe) among others, is an antidepressant medication of the serotonin modulator and stimulator (SMS) class used in the treatment of major depressive disorder. Its effectiveness is viewed as similar to that of other antidepressants. It is taken orally.

Amisulpride, sold under the brand names Socian and Barhemsys, is a medication used in the treatment of schizophrenia, acute psychotic episodes, depression, and nausea and vomiting. It is specifically used at lower doses intravenously to prevent and treat postoperative nausea and vomiting, at low doses by mouth to treat depression, and at higher doses by mouth to treat psychosis.

Lurasidone, sold under the brand name Latuda among others, is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar depression. It is taken by mouth.

Pimozide (sold under the brand name Orap) is a neuroleptic drug of the diphenylbutylpiperidine class. It was discovered at Janssen Pharmaceutica in 1963. It has a high potency compared to chlorpromazine (ratio 50-70:1). On a weight basis it is even more potent than haloperidol. It also has special indication for Tourette syndrome and resistant tics.

Brexpiprazole, sold under the brand name Rexulti among others, is an atypical antipsychotic medication used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, and agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease.

Cabergoline, sold under the brand name Dostinex among others, is a dopaminergic medication used in the treatment of high prolactin levels, prolactinomas, Parkinson's disease, and for other indications. It is taken by mouth.

Cyclobenzaprine, sold under several brand names including, historically, Flexeril, is a muscle relaxer used for muscle spasms from musculoskeletal conditions of sudden onset. It is not useful in cerebral palsy. It is taken by mouth.

Chlorprothixene, sold under the brand name Truxal among others, is a typical antipsychotic of the thioxanthene group.

Tiotixene, or thiothixene, is a typical antipsychotic sold under the brand name Navane which is predominantly utilised to treat schizophrenia. Beyond its primary indication, it can exhibit a variety of effects common to neuroleptic drugs including anxiolytic, anti-depressive, and anti-aggressive properties.

Methysergide, sold under the brand names Deseril and Sansert, is a monoaminergic medication which is used in the prevention and treatment of migraine and cluster headaches. It has been withdrawn from the market in the United States and Canada due to safety concerns. The drug has also been found to produce psychedelic effects at high doses. It is taken orally.

Ketanserin, sold under the brand name Sufrexal, is an antihypertensive agent which is used to treat arterial hypertension and vasospastic disorders. It is also used in scientific research as an antiserotonergic agent in the study of the serotonin system; specifically, the 5-HT2 receptor family. The drug is taken orally.

Metitepine (; developmental code names Ro 8-6837 (maleate), VUFB-6276 (mesylate)), also known as methiothepin, is a drug described as a "psychotropic agent" of the tricyclic or tetracyclic group which was never marketed.

Anhalamine is a naturally occurring tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid which can be isolated from Lophophora williamsii. It is structurally related to mescaline. It has been found to act as a potent inverse agonist of the serotonin 5-HT7 receptor.

Anhalonidine, also known as '''N-desmethylpellotine', a naturally occurring tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid which can be isolated from certain members of the cactus family, such as Lophophora''. It is structurally related to mescaline. Anhalonidine produced no hallucinogenic effects in humans at doses of up to 250mg. However, it has been reported to have a calming or sedative effect instead, with about one-fourth the potency of pellotine and with marked sedation occurring at doses of 100 to 250mg. Anhalonidine has been found to act as a potent inverse agonist of the serotonin 5-HT7 receptor.

Pellotine, also known as peyotline or '''N-methylanhalonidine', is a tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid found in Lophophora species, in particular L. diffusa. It is the second most common alkaloid found in Lophophora williamsii'' (peyote). Pellotine is slightly sedative, and has been used by Native Americans as a constituent of peyote for sacramental purposes. It was reportedly once marketed for use as a sedative. Pellotine has been sold online.
