O-methylated isoflavones

Formononetin is an O-methylated isoflavone.

Iridin is an isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It is the 7-glucoside of irigenin and can be isolated from several species of irises like orris root, Iris florentina or Iris versicolor, also commonly known as the larger blue flag. It can also be found in Iris kemaonensis.

Glycitein is an O-methylated isoflavone which accounts for 5-10% of the total isoflavones in soy food products. Glycitein is a phytoestrogen with weak estrogenic activity, comparable to that of the other soy isoflavones. Like other isoflavonoids, glycitein is synthesized as a glycoside conjugate to a monosaccharide (typically glucose). The glycoside is hydrolyzed during digestion to the biologically-active free isoflavonoid.

Tectorigenin is an O-methylated isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It ha been isolated from leopard lily (Belamcanda chinensis), Algerian iris (Iris unguicularis) and East Asian arrowroot (Pueraria thunbergiana).

Prunetin is an O-methylated isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It has been isolated for the first time by Finnemore in 1910 in the bark of Prunus emarginata (the Oregon cherry). Prunetin isolated from pea roots can act as an attractant for Aphanomyces euteiches zoospores. It is also an allosteric inhibitor of human liver aldehyde dehydrogenase.

Pratensein is an O-methylated isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It can be found in Trifolium pratense (red clover) and can have effects for the prevention of atherosclerosis.

Calycosin is an O-methylated isoflavone. It can be isolated from Astragalus membranaceus Bge. var. mongholicus and Trifolium pratense L. (red clover).

ψ-Tectorigenin is an O-methylated isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It can be isolated from Belamcanda chinensis, Dalbergia sissoo. It can also be isolated from the bacterium Nocardiopsis sp, and from the mold Stemphilium sp. No. 644.

Tectoridin is an isoflavone, a type of flavonoid. It is the 7-glucoside of tectorigenin and can be isolated from flowers of Pueraria thunbergiana (Leguminosae).

'5-O-Methylgenistein' is an O-methylated isoflavone. It can be found in Ormosia excelsa, a tropical legume.

Ononin is an isoflavone glycoside, the 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside of formononetin, which in turn is the 4'-O-methyl (4'-methoxy) derivative of the parent isoflavone daidzein.

5-Methyl-7-methoxyisoflavone, commonly referred to simply as methoxyisoflavone, is a chemical compound marketed as a bodybuilding supplement. However, there is no meaningful clinical evidence to support its usefulness. A study published in 2006 examined the effect of methoxyflavone on training adaptations and markers of muscle anabolism and catabolism. No measurable effects were observed in athletic performance or in levels of testosterone and cortisol.
