Abando

Abando, formerly known as San Vicente de Abando, is one of the eight districts of Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain). It covers most of the city's centre, located on the left bank of the estuary of Bilbao. It is the only district of Bilbao with all of its land completely urbanised. Abando was originally an elizate and also a municipality until 1876, when part of it was annexed to Bilbao, the rest of the elizate's municipal land was integrated into Bilbao in 1890. Abando, também conhecido como San Vicente de Abando, é o distrito número 6 da divisão administrativa da cidade de Bilbau, Espanha. No passado uma anteiglesia e município da Biscaia, ocupava o lugar e voto 34 nas Juntas Generales de Vizcaya. Atualmente está dividido em dois bairros: Abando e Indauchu. O distrito tem cerca de 52 000 habitantes e ocupa uma área de 2,14 m² (densidade: 24 299,1 hab./km²).
