Alan García

Alan García was a Peruvian politician, lawyer, writer, and jurist. Born Alan Gabriel Ludwig García Pérez in Lima in 1949, he was a member of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance. He served as the President of Peru and was a candidate in the 1985 Peruvian general election. His professional work encompassed law, sociology, and politics.

García was educated at the Complutense University of Madrid, the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, and the Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3. He authored 39 works, including *Ensayos sobre derecho y política*, *Globalization with social justice*, *Modernidad y política en el siglo XXI*, *Cuatro discursos fundamentales*, and *A los hombres de acción*. He was married to Pilar Nores and spoke Spanish as his native language.

Throughout his career, García received several awards, including the Hungarian Order of Merit, the Order of the Liberator General San Martín, the Grand Order of Mugunghwa, and the Decoration for Exceptional Merits. He resided in Lima, where he was also born and where he died.
