Alexander Bunge

Alexander Georg von Bunge (1803–1890) was a male explorer, botanist, professor, and physician from the Russian Empire. Born in Kyiv and buried in Raadi cemetery, he worked primarily in Tartu. He was educated at the Imperial University of Dorpat under doctoral advisor Carl Friedrich von Ledebour and served as a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. His fields of work included botany, and he spoke Russian and German.

Bunge authored four works listed in Open Library, including *Verzeichnis der Im Jahre 1832 Im Östl - Teile des Altei-Gebirges Gesammelten Pflanzen* and *Untersuchung zur Entwickelungsgeschichte des Beckengürtels der Amphibien, Reptilien und Vögel*. His children were Gustav von Bunge and Aleksandr Bunge, and his sibling was Friedrich Georg von Bunge.
