Amos Gitaï, né le 11 octobre 1950 à Haïfa en Israël, est un cinéaste israélien. Ses œuvres ont été présentées dans plusieurs rétrospectives au Centre Pompidou à Paris, au Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) de New York, au Lincoln Center de New York et au British Film Institute de Londres. À ce jour, Amos Gitai a créé plus de 90 œuvres d'art en 40 ans. Ses films ont été présentés au Festival du film de Cannes pour la Palme d'Or ainsi qu'au Festival international du film de Venise pour le Lion d'or. Il a travaillé avec Natalie Portman, Hana Laszlo, Yael Abecassis, Rosamund Pike, Jeanne Moreau, Juliette Binoche, Samuel Fuller, Hanna Schygulla, Annie Lennox, Barbara Hendricks, Léa Seydoux, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Mathieu Amalric, Henri Alekan, Renato Berta, Nurith Aviv, Éric Gautier et bien d'autres. Depuis 2000, il collabore avec la scénariste française Marie-José Sanselme. Il a reçu plusieurs prix prestigieux, tels que le prix Roberto Rossellini (2005), le prix Léopard d'honneur au Festival international du film de Locarno (2008), le prix Robert Bresson (2013), le prix Paradjanov (2014) et la Légion d'honneur (2017). En 2018, Amos Gitai a été élu professeur à la chaire de création artistique du Collège de France, avec une série de 12 cours sur le cinéma. En 2019 il reçoit la Grande Ufficiale dell'Ordine della Stella Italia.
