It includes two species Ampelozizyphus amazonicus, which is known from Amazonian Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, and Brazil, and Ampelozizyphus guaquirensis, native to the central portion of the Coastal Cordillera of Venezuela.
