Anthrax es una banda estadounidense de thrash metal formada en Nueva York en 1981, por el guitarrista Scott Ian y el bajista Dan Lilker. Está considerado como uno de los grupos principales de la escena thrash junto a Metallica, Megadeth y Slayer. Entre 1991 y 2004, vendió cerca de 2,5 millones de copias únicamente en los Estados Unidos y 10 millones en todo el mundo. En 1983, Anthrax firmó un contrato con la discográfica independiente Megaforce Records, a través de la cual publicó su álbum debut con su actual batería, Charlie Benante. Lilker pronto abandonó la formación y le reemplazó Frank Bello, sobrino de Benante, además, el vocalista Joey Belladonna también ingresó.
