Schaumzikaden (Aphrophoridae), engl. „spittlebugs“, sind eine Familie der Cercopoidea innerhalb der Unterordnung der Rundkopfzikaden (Cicadomorpha, Clypeorrhyncha). Sie sind meist unauffällig strohfarben, bräunlich oder schwarz gefärbt – im Gegensatz zu den Blutzikaden (Cercopidae), die auffallend schwarz-rot gezeichnet sind. Ein weiteres kennzeichnendes Merkmal dieser Insekten ist, dass die Larven in oberirdischen, selbst erzeugten, Kuckucksspeichel genannten Schaumhüllen leben; daher der Familienname. Die Schaumzikaden umfassen weltweit etwa 850 beschriebene Arten.
