Bâle (prononcé : /bɑl/) (Basel en allemand, Basilea en italien et romanche : ) est la troisième ville la plus peuplée de Suisse après Zurich et Genève, et le chef-lieu du canton de Bâle-Ville. La commune de Bâle compte 173 863 habitants en 2020. Bâle est communément considérée comme la capitale culturelle de la Suisse. La ville est ainsi célèbre pour ses nombreux musées, dont le Kunstmuseum de Bâle, le plus grand musée d'art en Suisse et historiquement la première collection d'art accessible au public au monde (1661), la Fondation Beyeler, le musée Tinguely et le musée d'art contemporain de Bâle. Elle est également connue pour la foire Art Basel, une des plus importantes manifestations annuelles d'art contemporain au monde, qui se tient vers la mi-juin.
