He was a founding member of avant-prog band Thinking Plague in the early 1980s and was later part of 5uu's, The Science Group (with Chris Cutler and Fred Frith) and Hail. Drake has released a number of solo albums written, performed and recorded by himself, starting with What Day Is It? in 1994.
