Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, is an American songwriter, film actor, poet, and guitarist. He is a member of the Academy of Arts, Berlin, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Traveling Wilburys. His discography includes works released under Columbia Records and Asylum Records. He plays the guitar, harmonica, piano, and voice, and his music spans rock music, blues, country music, and American folk music.

Dylan has received the National Medal of Arts, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts. He is recognized in the American Academy Arts Sciences, Pulitzer Prize, Nobel Literature, and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame collections. His notable works include *Oh how glad will you dance with me*, *Little Black Songbook*, *Hard Rain*, *Tarantula*, and the *Bob Dylan Banjo Chord Songbook*. He was educated at the University of Minnesota system and his archives are held at the University of Tulsa.
