Bohdan Khmelnytsky (translittération (simplifiée) depuis l'ukrainien : Богдан Хмельницький, Bohdan Khmel'nyts'kyï), ou Bogdan Khmelnitski (translittération depuis le russe : Богдан Хмельницкий), membre du clan Abdank, né le 27 décembre 1595 et mort le 27 juillet 1657, est un chef militaire et politique des Cosaques d'Ukraine, alors territoire relevant de la République des Deux Nations (royaume de Pologne et grand-duché de Lituanie). Il est à l'origine d'un soulèvement contre la noblesse polonaise en 1648, puis d'un rapprochement entre les Cosaques et la Russie (ou « Moscovie ») par le traité de Pereïaslav, en 1654. Bohdan Khmelnytsky devient après sa mort une véritable légende, symbole de la résistance cosaque et héros ukrainien. Mais son hetmanat a aussi été marqué par des massacres de Polonais, d'uniates et surtout de Juifs, responsables de la mort de plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'entre eux.
