Sin remisión obtuvo tres nominaciones a los Premios Óscar de 1950, en las categorías de mejor actriz protagonista (Eleanor Parker), mejor actriz de reparto (Hope Emerson) y mejor argumento y guion. Eleanor Parker obtuvo por su interpretación la Copa Volpi a la mejor actriz en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia. Una versión inicial del guion, con el título The Big Cage (La gran jaula) fue concebida por la Warner para ser protagonizada por Bette Davis o Joan Crawford, pero este proyecto no prosperó. Caged conoció en 1951 una adaptación radiofónica, también protagonizada por Eleanor Parker, en el episodio 112 de la serie Screen Director's Playhouse.
