Charles Nodier

Charles Nodier was a French journalist, lexicographer, librarian, and poet associated with the Romanticism movement. He was born in Besançon in 1780 and died in Paris in 1844. A member of the Académie Française and the Société nationale des Antiquaires de France, he was also recognized in the Academie Francaise collection. Nodier received the award of Knight of the Legion of Honour and wrote in French for publications such as the Revue des Deux Mondes.

His pseudonyms included Maxime Odin, Docteur Néophobus, and Carlo Nodier. He had one child, Marie Antoinette Menessier-Nodier. Nodier is buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery. His notable works include *Franciscus Columna*, *Voyages pittoresque et romantiques dans l'ancienne France*, *L'Italie pittoresque*, and *Catalogue des livres curieux, rares et précieux*.
