Composition VII

Kandinsky’s Composition VII is justly considered to be the apex of his artistic output before the First World War. More than 30 preparatory studies in watercolor and oil precede the painting, and serve as documentary evidence of its creation. Remarkably, after months of preparation, the final composition itself was executed in only four days. This is confirmed by photographs taken between 25 and 28 November 1913 . We are learning Wassily Kandinsky and I think this piece of work is amazingly messy but very perfect and sorted!
