Weltweit wurden 2011 etwa 5 Milliarden Kondome verkauft. Nach einem Bericht der Global Industry Analysts konnten 2015 global bereits 27 Milliarden Kondome verkauft werden. Etwa 12 Milliarden Präservative werden jährlich weltweit benutzt, das entspricht 380 Kondomen pro Sekunde.
