In astronomia la congiunzione è la che si determina quando due astri hanno la stessa longitudine o la stessa ascensione retta visti dal centro della Terra. Per esempio per quanto riguarda il sistema Sole-Terra-Luna, la Luna è in congiunzione col Sole al novilunio, quando cioè trovandosi tra il Sole e la Terra, rivolge a quest'ultima il suo emisfero non illuminato.
