Cryptacanthodes
Cryptacanthodes is a genus of marine ray-finned fishes belonging to the monogeneric family Cryptacanthodidae, commonly referred to as wrymouths. Three of the four species are found in the Pacific Ocean with one species native to the western Atlantic Ocean where they are benthic fishes, tunneling through soft substrates. It is currently the only known genus in its family.

Cryptacanthodes är ett släkte av fiskar. Cryptacanthodes ingår i familjen Cryptacanthodidae. Arterna förekommer i kalla och tempererade delar av Atlanten och Stilla havet. Längden varierar mellan 30 och 125 cm. Dessa fiskar äter kräftdjur och andra ryggradslösa havsdjur. Det vetenskapliga namnet bildas av de grekiska orden kryptos (gömd) och akantha (tagg). Cryptacanthodes är enda släktet i familjen Cryptacanthodidae.
