Qolām Hossein Darvish known as Darvish Khān (Persian: درویش خان) (b. 1872 – d. 22 November 1926, Tehran, Iran) was a Persian classical musician and a tar player. Darvish Khan was born in Tehran in 1872. His teachers were his father, Haji Bashir, and Aqa Hossein-Qoli Farahani. As a child, he played the drum in the Aziz Soltan band at the court of Nassereddin Shah. Darvish Khan is known to have invented pishdaramad, a free-standing composition to be played at the beginning of a musical performanc
