דיזנגוף סנטר, מרכז הקניות והבילוי הוותיק בישראל, נפתח לקהל בשנת 1977. דיזנגוף סנטר נקרא על שם מאיר דיזנגוף ראש העירייה הראשון של תל אביב והוא פרי יוזמתם המשותפת של אריה פילץ ז"ל, אברהם פילץ ז"ל וסמואל פלאטו שרון. הוא נבנה בלב הפועם של תל אביב, בצומת הרחובות דיזנגוף והמלך ג'ורג'. בשנת 1977 נפתחה החנות הראשונה המשביר לצרכן.
