Erasmo Marotta was born in Randazzo in 1576 from a noble family originally from Capua who arrived in Sicily under the Aragonese. Already from an early age shows an innate musical talent and, even the priestly vocation, he is sent to Rome to complete his studies and take vows in the Society of Jesus . Musician and composer in an era in which the musical form of the motet is going to be outlined, a vocal polyphonic composition that from the 16th century follows the compositional model of Flemish
