ESSYLA represented Belgium at the European Broadcasting Union’s Eurovision Song Contest in 2026, which took place in Vienna, Austria. This special edition celebrated the 70th anniversary of the competition and marked the 40th anniversary of Sandra Kim’s victory in 1986 in Bergen, Norway. Alice was first introduced to the general public during the 9th season of The Voice Belgique. She named herself ESSYLA (Alice spelled backwards) when she released her debut EP I’ll Be Okay at the end of 2023. <

== Early life and education == Essyla was born in Perwez, Walloon Brabant, Belgium. She grew up in a musical environment, split between Flanders, where her father resides, and Walloon Brabant, where her mother lives. Her stage name, "Essyla", is a creative derivative of her birth name, "Alice", created by reversing said name.
