Each cartridge offers anything up to 20 games originally designed for 8-bit or 16-bit consoles that the Evercade emulates, namely the Atari 2600 , Atari 7800 , Atari Lynx , Mattel Intellivision , Nintendo Entertainment System , Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive . The Evercade is rechargeable and offers television output, but like the consoles it emulates it does not have WiFi or touchscreen capability. At launch, 10 ROM cartridges were available, and as well as offering number of games including some very popular classic titles, they also offer the ability to save game progress. The Evercade received favourable reviews for its emulation abilities, but there was some criticism of the button mapping.

Arc System Works, Atari, Bandai Namco Entertainment, G-Mode, Interplay Entertainment and Piko Interactive have released emulated versions of their games for the Evercade. Pre-existing homebrew games have also been re-released on the system by Mega Cat Studios. The Evercade is capable of playing games originally released for the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, Intellivision, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and PlayStation as well as arcade games, and home computer games for the Commodore 64, Amiga and ZX Spectrum.
