OverviewAI-generated
Fuchsia is a taxon at the genus rank within the family Onagraceae. It is named after Leonhart Fuchs and has the common names fuchsia, Fuxer, Fuxerl, and Fuchsien. The genus produces berries as its fruit type. While the Plants of the World database lists "kotukutuku wood" as a common name, an Encyclopedia of Life entry describes Fuchsia as a genus of butterflies in the family Elachistidae found in Europe. Additionally, WoRMS lists an unaccepted nematode genus of the same name in the family Diplogastridae, order Rhabditida, class Chromadorea, and phylum Nematoda, with a freshwater habitat.
Records for the plant genus are held by institutions including ECOSUR, INECOL, FC-UNAM, CICY, and IIB-UV, primarily in Mexico. The genus has been described in the Encyclopædia Britannica 11th edition.
