Georges Vedel

Georges Vedel was a French jurist, university teacher, and writer born in Auch in 1910. He served as a member of the Académie Française, the Academy of Athens, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and the Council of Higher Education. His professional roles included positions as president, dean, and chairperson at institutions such as Sciences Po, the Paris Law Faculty, École Centrale Paris, and École Centrale de Lille. He was educated at the lycée Pierre-de-Fermat and the University of Toulouse.

Vedel participated in World War II and received the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour and the Croix de guerre 1939–1945. He authored 39 works, including *Le rapport Vedel*, *Perspectives à long terme de l'agriculture française, 1968-1985*, *La représentation de l'État devant les tribuanux judiciaires*, *Cours de droit constitutionnel et d'institutions politiques*, and *The role of the parliamentary institution in European integration*. He died in the 7th arrondissement of Paris in 2002 and is buried at Montparnasse Cemetery. His archives are held at the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
