De maan is ongeveer 62 kilometer in doorsnede en draait om Neptunus in 1879,7 dagen.Net als de grootste maan Triton, draait Halimede in een retrograde baan (dat wil zeggen tegengesteld aan de draaiingsrichting van Neptunus.
