Kommissar Rex ist eine österreichische Krimiserie, die in Wien spielt und in der stets der Polizeihund Rex mitspielt. Die Serie wurde von 1994 bis 2004 in mehreren Staffeln mit drei unterschiedlichen Besetzungen gedreht. Von 2007 bis 2014 wurde die Serie für die Rai mit Schauplatz Rom in italienischer Sprache, mit italienischen Schauspielern und ebenfalls mit einem Diensthund noch einmal komplett neu produziert. Für den kanadischen TV-Sender CityTv wurde die erste englischsprachige Adaption mit dem Titel Hudson & Rex produziert, die ab März 2019 ausgestrahlt wurde. Rex ist ein Deutscher Schäferhund mit dem vollständigen Namen Reginald von Ravenhorst. Bislang haben drei Schäferhunde die Rolle des Rex gespielt: B.J., Rhett und Henry, jeweils trainiert von der US-amerikanischen Hundetrainerin Teresa Ann Miller.
