Isamu Noguchi

Isamu Noguchi was a male sculptor, designer, landscape architect, and painter born in Los Angeles in 1904. He held citizenship in Japan and the United States and was educated at Columbia University. His works are held in the collections of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. He participated in Documenta III and was recognized in the American Academy Arts Sciences collection.

Noguchi received the Guggenheim Fellowship, the National Medal of Arts, the Kyoto Prize in Arts and Philosophy, and the Order of the Sacred Treasure. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was married to Yoshiko Yamaguchi and was the son of Yone Noguchi. He died of heart failure in New York City in 1988.
