Jeannie Mai (1957–1990) was a famous American-Vietnamese singer of French and Vietnamese descent who actively contributed to the overseas Vietnamese music scene in California, U.S. during the 1980s. She used to sing and record songs for various labels in Sài Gòn (now Hồ Chi Minh City) before the Reunification Day. She passed away in 1990 due to a cosmetic surgery procedure performed in Hawaii. Her most popular songs include many Vietnamese New Wave and Italo Disco records, such as Black Is Black
