Karl Kautsky

Karl Kautsky was a politician, philosopher, economist, and journalist born in Prague on 16 October 1854. He held citizenship in Cisleithania, the German Reich, and Germany. Kautsky was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany. He was educated at the University of Vienna, Akademisches Gymnasium, and Stiftsgymnasium Melk. His fields of work included economics, history, philosophy, and politics, and he wrote in German.

He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Kautsky was married to Luise Kautsky, and they had a child named Benedikt Kautsky. His father was Johann Kautsky. Kautsky identified as an atheist. He died in Amsterdam on 17 October 1938. His works are archived at the International Institute of Social History. He is described by the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary, the Granat Encyclopedic Dictionary, and the Jewish Encyclopedia of Brockhaus and Efron.
