The LOCKSS ("Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe") project, under the auspices of Stanford University, is a peer-to-peer network that develops and supports an open source system allowing libraries to collect, preserve and provide their readers with access to material published on the Web. Its main goal is digital preservation.
This is the source tree for the LOCKSS daemon. See for information about the LOCKSS project. Junit Junit is included in the LOCKSS source distribution, but the Ant targets that invoke JUnit (test-xxx) require the JUnit jar to be on Ant's classpath. The easiest way to do that is to copy lib/junit.jar into Ant's lib directory ( /ant/lib) or your local .ant/lib directory. JAVAHOME Environment variable For some of the tools the JAVAHOME env var must be set to the directory in which the JDK is installed. (I.e., it's expected that tools.jar can be found in $JAVAHOME/lib) Build out the test frameworks to allow running a daemon and testing on local machine.

The system attempts to replicate the way libraries do this for material published on paper. At its founding in 1999, it was designed for scholarly journals, but is now also used for a range of other materials. Examples include the SOLINET project to preserve theses and dissertations at eight universities, US government documents, and the MetaArchive Cooperative program preserving at-risk digital archival collections, including Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs), newspapers, photograph collections, and audio-visual collections.
