Lord Burgess (born Irving Louis Burgie on 28 July 1924; died 29 November 2019) was an American musician and songwriter who composed thirty four songs for Harry Belafonte, including eight of the 11 songs on the Belafonte album Calypso (1956), the first album of any kind to sell one million copies. His songs included "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)", "Jamaica Farewell", "In Plenty and In Time of Need".
