Crocidura malayana is een spitsmuis uit het geslacht Crocidura die voorkomt op schiereiland Malakka en nabijgelegen eilanden, tot op 1200 m hoogte. Deze soort lijkt sterk op C. fuliginosa en C. negligens, en werd tot 1990 tot C. fuliginosa gerekend. Deze soort is onder andere te herkennen aan het karyotype van 2n=38-40, FN=62-68. C. malayana is een middelgrote spitsmuis met een donkerbruine tot zwarte vacht. De kop-romplengte bedraagt 77 tot 102 mm, de staartlengte 56 tot 78 mm, de achtervoetlengte 13 tot 16 mm en het gewicht 10,1 tot 14,5 g. Bronnen, noten en/of referenties Ruedi, M. 1995.
