Um dos municípios brasileiros mais promissores do Rio Grande do Sul. Cidade destaque no estado, dentro e fora do país. Localizado no Norte do Estado, dentro da região conhecida como planalto médio, Marau tem uma área de mais de 650 quilômetros quadrados. Colonizado por imigrantes Italianos, em 1904, foi transformado município em 28 de fevereiro de 1955. Com uma população superior a 36 mil habitantes, as empresas instaladas em Marau atendem aos mais diversos setores, entre eles, alimentos, couros, equipamentos para avicultura e suinocultura, metal mecânico e em crescimento o setor da construção civil.

Marau is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It was initially populated by Italian immigrants that were escaping from the war.
The city name is based on the brave native chief "cacique Marau" which fought against the white people to keep the land. He lost the battle in 1840 and it generated a river called Mortandande after the bloody battle.
