Michael E. Mann est un climatologue et géophysicien américain, actuellement directeur du Earth System Science Center de l'université d'État de Pennsylvanie. Il a contribué à la compréhension scientifique du changement climatique en fonction de l'évolution de la température au cours du dernier millénaire et mis au point des techniques pour filtrer le bruit des données climatiques afin d'isoler des tendances significatives. En 2012, l'Union européenne des géosciences a décrit ses publications comme « exceptionnelles pour un scientifique si jeune ». Mann est également cofondateur et contributeur au blog en climatologie RealClimate. Début 2019, il a été récompensé par le Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement.
