Moritz Cantor

Moritz Benedikt Cantor was a German mathematician, historian, and university teacher. Born in Mannheim in 1829, he worked at Heidelberg University in Heidelberg. He was educated at the University of Göttingen and Heidelberg University. His fields of work included history, mathematics, and the history of mathematics. He wrote in German and was a member of the Jewish people.

Cantor authored works such as *Politische Arithmetik, oder die Arithmetik das täglichen Lebens* and *Vorlesungen über geshichte der mathematik*. He was a doctoral student supervisor to Karl Bopp and Joseph Carlebach. He was a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Saint Petersburg Academy of Sciences, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. He died in Heidelberg in 1920.
