Une nationalisation est le transfert d'une propriété privée à une nation, c'est-à-dire à la propriété collective. Une nationalisation est bien souvent une étatisation, c'est-à-dire le transfert d'une propriété à l'État. Une nationalisation peut toucher des moyens de production (usines, mines, etc.), des secteurs économiques (le système bancaire), ou une entreprise en particulier.
